FIFA has suspended Emiliano Martínez for two matches on Saturday.

The World Football Association punishes the eccentric goalkeeper of the Argentine national team for his behavior during the previous international period.

Earlier this month, Argentina’s players celebrated their Copa América win in July after beating Chile 3-0 in World Cup qualifier.

Martínez held the trophy to his groin, as he did in late 2022 after winning the World Cup final.

Four days after the win over Chile, Argentina went down 2-1 to Colombia, after which Martínez pushed aside a television camera in anger.

The cameraman was angry about the action and later said he felt attacked.

FIFA has now ruled that the 32-year-old Martínez will miss the next two international matches due to his behavior.

Argentina will play away against Venezuela and at home against Bolivia in the qualifying series for the 2026 World Cup next month.
