Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has called on Nigerians to throw their full support behind the team as they prepare for their crucial final World Cup qualifying match against Benin.

Speaking after Nigeria’s vital win over Lesotho, the Malian tactician expressed relief that the team’s confidence had been restored, admitting that the victory eased some of the pressure they had been under.

“Today, we’re happy because we won the three points  we’re still alive,” Chelle said. “I’m proud of my players and I congratulate them. Since March, we’ve been feeling a lot of pressure because Nigerians expect us to qualify for the World Cup. Whenever the players come to camp, they can feel that weight.”

Chelle emphasized the importance of home support in their final clash, urging fans to play their part in making life difficult for their opponents.

“We need our fans behind us to put pressure on Benin. This is the World Cup qualifiers  the game starts the moment they set foot in our country. We must finish the job on the pitch,” he added.
