Nigeria’s D’Tigress dug deep to overcome a spirited Mali side and successfully defended their Women’s Afrobasket Championship crown in Ivory Coast.
Mali started the game with intensity, taking the first quarter 26-21. However, D’Tigress rallied in the second quarter to level the score at 41-41 by halftime.
The Nigerians asserted dominance in the third quarter, containing Mali’s offense and shifting momentum in their favor. Despite Mali’s late surge in the final quarter, D’Tigress held firm to secure a 78-64 victory.
The hard-fought win handed D’Tigress their fifth consecutive Women’s Afrobasket title and seventh overall, further cementing their dominance on the continent.
