Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a memorable victory over Algeria on Saturday, claiming a 2-0 win in their quarter-final clash at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The win marked sweet revenge for the West Africans, who had previously fallen to the North Africans in past tournament encounters.

Nigeria delivered a disciplined and dominant performance, particularly in the second half, to seal their passage into the semi-finals.

After a tightly contested first half, the Super Eagles broke the deadlock through Victor Osimhen, whose clinical finish put Nigeria firmly in control.

Akor Adams later doubled the advantage, capping off an impressive display and extinguishing any hopes of an Algerian comeback.

Algeria struggled to cope with Nigeria’s intensity and organisation, as the Super Eagles effectively neutralised their attacking threats while remaining sharp going forward.

With the victory, Nigeria have now booked a mouth-watering semi-final showdown against tournament hosts Morocco, setting up a highly anticipated clash as both sides eye a place in the final of the competition.
