Nigeria’s Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has described his goal against Tunisia as a proud moment in his international career.

The Besiktas midfielder scored Nigeria’s second goal in the 3-2 victory over the Carthage Eagles in their second Group match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The strike marked Ndidi’s first-ever goal for the Super Eagles and came in his first tournament appearance as the newly appointed captain.

Reacting after the game, Ndidi expressed his delight at finally getting on the scoresheet for Nigeria but stressed that the team’s victory mattered more than personal achievement.

“It was amazing. Trying to feel this way is a proud moment for me. It’s been a long time coming,” Ndidi said.

“I got the goal, but the most important thing is getting the win, so I’m really proud of it.”

Nigeria’s win over Tunisia secured their place in the Round of 16 and further boosted confidence within the Super Eagles camp as they continue their quest for a fourth AFCON title.
