Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed pride in leading Nigeria, describing the role as a significant step forward in his coaching career.

The France-born tactician made the remarks on Monday during his pre-match press conference ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 group clash against Uganda.

Chelle admitted that coaching the Super Eagles comes with immense responsibility and constant pressure but said he is embracing the challenge.

“When I took this Super Eagles job, I entered another level. Every moment, every day, I feel the pressure,” Chelle said. “I try every time to do my best, just like the players on the pitch. I am very proud to work for this nation.”

The former Mali national team coach has enjoyed a positive start with Nigeria and is yet to lose any competitive match with the Super Eagles in regulation time.

Nigeria will face Uganda on Tuesday as they continue their quest for success at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
