Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers has been ruled out of Nigeria’s campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following a thigh injury.
According to the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, the striker sustained the injury during a training session with the national team.
Further medical assessment confirmed that Dessers would be unable to recover in time to feature in the tournament.
Efoghe also disclosed that the former Rangers attacker has returned to his club in Greece to undergo treatment and rehabilitation.
Dessers’ withdrawal represents a setback for the Super Eagles, who are already navigating the challenges of the continental showpiece in Morocco.
The technical crew is expected to adjust its attacking options as the team continues its AFCON campaign without the experienced forward.
